BEFORE PILATE
When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people too counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
And when they had bound him they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
(Luke 23:2-7) And they began to accuse Him saying:
1) We found this fellow perverting the nation
2) forbidding to give tribute to Casesar
3) saying that He himself is Christ a King.
Pilate asks: " ARE YOU THE KING OF THE JEWS?"
Jesus said to him: " You say it. "
Pilate said to the chief priest and to the people,
"I FIND NO FAULT IN THIS MAN."
...When Pilate heard of Galilee...he sent him to Herod who was at Jerusalem at that time.
BEFORE HEROD
Herod was glad to see him and hoped to see a miracle.
Herod questioned him with many words.
 Jesus answered nothing.
The chief priests and scribes stood and angrily accused Him.  Herod and his men mocked him, put on him a purple (royal) robe and sent him again to Pilate.    Pilate and Herod were made friends because of this.   See Luke 23:8-12
BEFORE PILATE AGAIN
Pilate called thee chief prists and rules of the people together.   He said that he had examed him...and had found not fault in Him touching the things
of which you accuse Him
Even Herod found "nothing worhy of death."
I will ...chastise him, and release him
BARABBAS OR JESUS?
There was a custom of releasing a prisoner at the feast season.  They had a very famous prisoner named Barabbas.
Pilate offers to release a prisoner.  "Whom will you that I release unto you? Barabbas or Jesus which is called Christ?
(Pilate's wife sends him a message:  "Have nothing
to do with that just man: for I have suffered many thing
this day in a dream because of him."
The cheif priest and elders persuaded the crowd to choose
to have Barabbas released.  Pilate asked which did they want released and they shouted "Barabbas."
Pilate said:  What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ:
They all say:  "LET HIM BE CRUCIFIED"
Pilate said:  Why, what evil has he done?
They cried out the more:  LET HIM BE CRUCIFIED.
Pilate took water, and washed his hands...I am innocent of the blood of this just person; see you to it.
People answered:  His blood be on us, and on our children.
Pilate released Barabbas ....and he had Jesus whipped and delivered him to be crucified.
