Project Ukraine 2001
Almost a year has passed since the initial proposal of assistance to Pobina and Nahirna was discussed. Today, we are entering our second chapter and are planning Project Ukraine 2001. On November 25, 2000 our Project Chair received a letter of request from Dr. Orest Chubko, Medical Director outlining the catastrophic situation that exists at his medical facility -- the Zhashkiv Regional Medical Center in the Cherkaska Oblast.
The residents of the area villages attend the Medical Center in an effort to obtain medical care. By western standards, the Medical Center severely lacks those resources, supplies and technology that enable a medical staff to adequately provide for their patients. The Sr. Chapter of the Ukrainian Orthodox League of St. Demetrius Cathedral hopes that our "Project Ukraine 2001" will provide some of the resources, supplies, and technology that will enable the medical center staff to meet the challenges in the 21st century.
Mission Statement
The primary objective of our project is to collect medical equipment and supplies thus improving the medical technology and the quality of health care provided to patients at the Zhashkiv Regional Medical Center and the 29 village medi-centers.
