Perhaps
you do not feel that you know God.
The Bible says God and Heaven are HOLY. Holy
means PERFECT. It is really important to understand that God cannot let
anything imperfect into Heaven. All of us have a body and a soul.
At death your body is either buried or cremated but your soul, the
real you lives on forever, either in Heaven or Hell and there is no third
place.
We have a major problem - the Bible says if we
have broken any of God’s laws then our souls become imperfect and cannot
enter Heaven, so sadly, it looks as though we are all headed for hell. Yes,
we all have sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious ideal.
Some people ask the question “How could a
loving God create a place like Hell, let alone send someone there?”
Consider a judge trying a case and I think you will realizse that when
someone breaks the law there must be a punishment or there is no JUSTICE.
So, there has to be a punishment for breaking God’s laws, but here is the good
news.
Jesus is PERFECT. When He died on the cross 2000 years ago Jesus took
the punishment we deserved for breaking God’s laws, he was making a way
for us to be forgiven.
This is how we may be forgiven:
First, we must be willing to TURN AWAY from anything in our
life we know is wrong. Notice we said willing. We may feel there are things
in our lives, which in our own strength we are not able to turn from.
That’s okay. God will help us but we must be willing and want to turn from
them.
Second, we must SURRENDER to Jesus.
Unless someone has turned and surrendered, it is impossible to be
forgiven and restore friendship with God.
If you now want to Turn and Surrender
- then can you say the following prayer:
“Dear God, I know I have sinned. I believe
Your Son, Jesus Christ, died to take the punishment for my sin. I believe
Jesus came back to life from death and has the power to forgive my sin and
change my life. Forgive me. Come into my life and change me. I want to live
for You and follow Your plan for my life. I believe You have forgiven me,
and I thank You for hearing my prayer, in Jesus’ name.”
