My Favorite Bible Verses

Here are some of my favorite  Bible verses. My "favorites" change from day to day, and from experience to experience, because God's Word is always fresh and new. I hope you will share your favorites, too. Perhaps you or the next reader will find peace and hope through reading these precious scriptures. My greatest prayer, however, is that your trust is in the Lord Jesus Christ as your one and only Savior! Do you know Him in this way? Your eternal destiny depends upon your answer. If you have been searching here and there for "answers," I can tell you where to find them! Truly, Jesus Christ is The Answer--no matter what the question. And He loves you more than you can possibly imagine. Would you like to know Him? key.gif (8920 bytes)

Click on the key to find out how simple it is. It will only take a few moments of your time. You won't be sorry.

If you have trusted Christ as your personal Savior as  a result of reading and believing His Word as written in the scriptures behind the key, please e-mail me to let me know. I would like to thank God and to pray for you. I won't "bother" you, but if you would like someone to talk to about your decision, I would be happy to be that person! You can reach me by clicking here. (Please remove nospam. before sending.)

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6 (NIV)

I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Philippians 3:10, 11 (NIV)

From Georgia, one of my cherished new Internet friends:

I will bless the Lord at all times:
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make her boast in the Lord:
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt His name together.
I sought the Lord and He heard me,
and delivered me from all my fears!!

Psalm 34: 1-4

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.
Psalm 73:25,26 (NIV)

Whom have I in Heaven but you?
there is nothing on earth
I desire besides you..
my heart and my flesh,
many times they fail..
but there is one truth
that always will prevail...
God is the strength of my heart..
God is the strength of my heart
and my portion,
for-ev-ev-er, forever.

These verses are favorites of another Encourager friend of mine, Maggie Smith. She also likes to sing music.gif (1018 bytes) the Scripture, and sent the words to the chorus on the right.

Another dear Internet friend, Jennifer, would like to share this verse:

Behold, GOD is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also is become my salvation.
Isaiah 12:2

Jennifer's home page is: 4 Seests in Paradise!!!

Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. Psalm 28:6, 7 (NIV)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22,23 (NIV)

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Mark 11:22-23 (KJV)

Rhonda Collins, who sings with The Redemption Messengers (URL doesn't seem to work lately) had a difficult time choosing <smile>, but selected this as her favorite verse.

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Psalm 4:8 (NIV)

These are some of Christina's favorite verses:

sunt.gif (1633 bytes)

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry,"Abba, Father." (Romans 8:15)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.   2 Chronicles 7:13 (NIV)

One of Zac's favorite verses is: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5,6 (NIV)

vs1love.gif (2809 bytes)
Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. Matthew 22:37 (NIV)

A favorite verse of Christopher McPhaul: . . . Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
Job 1:21

Dear friends,
Let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. . . . God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. . . . We love because he first loved us. . . . And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

1 John 4:7-12, 16b, 19, 21. (NIV)

Betsy Spiegel says she loves the "simplicity of the instructions" in this verse (I do, too): He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
Micah 6:8
nmsunrise.gif (18673 bytes)

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.  1 Thessalonians 5:22 (NIV)

One of Beth's favorite verses is:
Be strong, banish fear and doubt. Remember the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
It's also one of Jessica's favorites. Her version reads:
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.  Joshua 1:9 (NASB)

Kathy Hatley has shared her favorite verses:

I will Bless the lord at all times;his praises shall continually be in my soul shall make her boast in the lord;the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the lord with me,and let us exalt his name together.

I sought the lord and he heard me,and delivered me from all of my fears.

This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. . . . Noah did everything just as God commanded him.  Genesis 6:9, 22 (NIV)

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.  Hebrews 11:7 (NIV)

The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

1 John 3:23. Created by  QueenyT

Dear friends,
if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

1 John 3:21-24 (NIV)

Jenn Cook shared this favorite verse:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NIV)

As important as reading God's Word is memorizing it. I know--OUCH!! Here's a simple plan developed for children (but we won't tell anyone if a grown-up uses it).

Memorizing by the Alphabet

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. Psalm 145:8,9 (NIV)

Why did I choose a background of dandelions?

From earliest childhood, the dandelion has been a symbol of a child's love for his or her mother. They are so brightly yellow, and so abundant! Few mothers have missed the joy of receiving a limp bouquet of these plants, proudly presented with a big smile and the words, "I picked these just for you!" We consider them weeds, but I sometimes wonder if God didn't create them just for children to give to their mothers. . .

And how else could we know if we liked butter, if we couldn't have a dandelion held under our chin to see if there was a golden reflection? Then, after the blooming time is finished, these plants present spectacular round balls made of tiny "parachutes" that, when blown upon, spin gaily off to unknown destinations.

A weed--yes, I suppose so, as plants go. But I have found lessons in their persistence. There have been attempts through time to eradicate Christianity--but it keeps springing up. It is unwelcome in many areas of the world today, where those who are misled by the evil one try to "mow it down" or "dig it out." But it is impossible to do this. God is in control of the world today as He as always been. And when our time on earth is over, those who have been God's "dandelions," beautiful only to those with childlike hearts, will receive a touch of God's breath, and float away to be with Him forever.

Would you like to read stories from a children's book written many years ago by my great-aunt Georgia Elliott? They are not always "politically correct," but they consistently point to Jesus in a simple and beautiful manner. Here is my "Tribute to Aunt Georgie."
