MORE ABOUT ME

Hi, here I am=) This picture was taken this year in Florida. I was born in August of 1976 on a small out island in the Bahamas. My family has lived here for quite a few generations. I grew up and went to school until the 10th grade here. Then in August of 1991 I had a weird diving accident that broke my neck and left me a quadriplegic I drowned and was that close to death. I am sure that it's only by a miracle that I'm here today. And miracles come from God=) I was flown to Florida just hours after, with no neck brace. I was in the hospital there for about six weeks I think. Then I was in the Shriner's hospital in Chicago for over three months. For the first many weeks after my injury I was completely paralyzed, only able to shrug my shoulders. With therapy and time at the Shriner's hospital I regained movement. I learnt, very slowly and embarrassingly how to feed myself using a splint on my right hand. My right side has always been my strongest side since my injury. I amazingly got finger movement back on my right hand, which is very not likely with quadriplegics. From the first day out of the hospital I haven't used my right hand splint since. And I'm typing to you now=) After my discharge from the hospital I lived in Indiana a few weeks with some of our family so I could be near the hospital for check ups. After that I lived in Florida where I finished my last two years of high school in a big public school and went to therapy everyday after school. I also went back to the hospital in Chicago every six months to a year for check ups and sometimes for therapy. After I graduated high school I moved back home. I haven't mentioned it yet but my mom was with me and still is every step of the way=) Without her I can't imagine where I'd be. I've gotten much movement back from being completely paralyzed. I am in a wheelchair. I can walk a tiny bit with a walker. Amazingly, thankfully and joyfully, I can live a very happy life. I've learned to fish with a regular fishing rod, I've always liked fishing. I love listening to music. I like watching movies and sports. I like swimming in the summer. I really enjoy making web-pages and doing computer stuff. I work at a local Internet provider here. Shortly after my 19th birthday I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior, I was born again as the Bible says. To read more about being saved by Jesus click on the black button on top that says Jesus.
