HOLINESS - Romans 12
Study
Romans 12:1-2
1I beseech you
therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable
service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Exodus
19:6
6And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an
holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the
children of Israel.
Leviticus 11:45
45For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of
the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am
holy.
Leviticus 19:2
2Speak unto all the congregation of the children of
Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am
holy.
I Chroniciles 16:29
29Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his
name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of
holiness.
Luke
1:74,75
74That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered
out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, 75In
holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
II Corinthians 7:1,2
1Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let
us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting
holiness in the fear of God. 2Receive us; we have wronged no man, we
have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.
Ephesians 4:24 - 32
24And that ye put on the new man, which after God is
created in righteousness and true holiness. 25Wherefore putting away
lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of
another. 26Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon
your wrath: 27Neither give place to the devil. 28Let him
that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his
hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. 29Let
no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to
the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30And
grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of
redemption. 31Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour,
and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32And be
ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for
Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
Hebrews 12: 14 - 17
14Follow peace with all men, and holiness,
without which no man shall see the Lord: 15Looking diligently lest
any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up
trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; 16Lest there be
any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his
birthright. 17For ye know how that afterward, when he would have
inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance,
though he sought it carefully with tears.
I Peter 1:16-19
16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 17And
if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to
every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: 18Forasmuch
as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver
and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your
fathers; 19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb
without blemish and without spot:
II Peter 3:11-15
11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of
persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12Looking
for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on
fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless
we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein
dwelleth righteousness. 14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look
for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot,
and blameless. 15And account that the longsuffering of our
Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to
the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;3
Hosea 10:12
12Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break
up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and
rain righteousness upon you

12:3-15 Regarding
Man:
The
Brethern
3For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every
man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought
to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the
measure of faith. 4For as we have many members in one body, and all
members have not the same office:
5So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and
every one members one of another.

Relationships
6Righteousness keepeth him
that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering:
or he that teacheth, on teaching;
8Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation:
he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity;
he that ruleth, with diligence;
he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness.
9Let love be without dissimulation.
Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
10Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly
love; in honour preferring one another; 11Not slothful in business;
fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing
instant in prayer;
13Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to
hospitality.
14Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that
weep.
16Be of the same mind one toward another.
Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate.
Be not wise in your own conceits.
17Recompense to no man evil for evil.
Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably
with all men.
19Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather
give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will
repay, saith the Lord.
20Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst,
give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
The Tongue:
PSALM
34:13-22
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips
from speaking guile.
14 Depart from
evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of
the LORD are upon the
righteous, and his ears are open
unto their cry.
16 The face of
the LORD is against them that
do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out
of all their troubles.
18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a
broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous:
but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
20 He keepeth
all his bones: not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall
slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
22 The LORD
redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be
desolate.
JAMES
1:26
26If any man
among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his
own heart, this man’s religion is vain.
27Pure
religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the
fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself
unspotted from the world.
I PETER 3:10
10For he that will love life, and see good days, let
him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: 11Let
him
eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
“Ye also, as living stones, are
built up a spiritual house”. (I Peter 2;25a)
“The stones used in “The altar of
stone, commanded “thou shalt not build it of hewn stone.”
Christians as living stones shall not use the sword, that is to say the
tongue against our brothers or sisters in Christ.
Exodus 20:25
5And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou
shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou
hast polluted
it. 26Neither shalt thou go
up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon. [hewn stone] Hebrew [H2719 áø†ç– chereb kheh'-reb From H2717; drought; also a cutting
instrument (from its destructive effect), as a knife, sword,
or other sharp implement:—axe, dagger, knife, mattock, sword, tool. ]

Peter 2:24,25
4To whom coming, as unto a living stone,
disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, 5Ye
also, as lively stones, are
built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual
sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 6Wherefore also
it is contained in the scripture,
Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that
believeth on him shall not
be confounded. [Stone] Greek: G3037 ëßèïò lithos lee'-thos Apparently a primary word; a stone

The Mouth:
PROVERBS 13:3
2A man shall eat good by the fruit of his
mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
1A wise son heareth his father’s instruction:
but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
3He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but
he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath
nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man
is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
6Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in
the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath
nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great
riches.
8The ransom of a man’s life are his riches: but
the poor heareth not rebuke.
9The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of
the wicked shall be put out.
10Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well
advised is wisdom.
11Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished:
but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
12Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when
the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
13Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he
that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to
depart from the snares of death.
15Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of
transgressors is hard.
16Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but
a fool layeth open his folly.
17A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a
faithful ambassador is health.
18Poverty and shame shall be to him that
refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
19The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it
is abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20He that walketh with wise men shall be wise:
but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
21Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good
shall be repayed.
22A good man leaveth an inheritance to his
children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the
just.
23Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but
there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.
24He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that
loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
25The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul:
but the belly of the wicked shall want.
Proverbs 21:23
23Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his
soul from troubles.
